MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

recommended; suggested donation $5. You

"sandwich generation."
April 26th saw another terrific crew, working
on sheetrock, insulation, wiring, and dry rot!
Thank you to everyone who came this weekend, your work was amazing! We have some other good news and kudos for
everyone who has contributed in any way.
Jim Lowry, from the Lending Network of Lewis County, walked through the
house with Gordon Coop, a representative of the Master Builders' Association in
Lewis County. They were helping us to
identify a list of materials remaining to complete our work. They both said how utterly impressed they
were with the quality of work that was being accomplished and the dedication
you have all shown in this work to bring Sherry home! I can't say strongly enough how I agreed with them. You are all amazing. Everyone who has helped with time, talents,
prayers or donations is making this miracle possible.
Jim and Gordon did make a couple of suggestions, one of which was that we would all be happier with the quality of the final drywall project if we scrape the plaster off of the living room and dining room ceilings, and apply new drywall over the existing lath. I spoke with Sherry about it, and she agreed that she would like that better, although it will probably set the move-in date back about two weeks. So, to do that, I would like first to know if anyone would be available to make a special trip midweek or on a Sunday, just to scrape the plaster (it's quite loose) and clean up the mess. I may be overly optimistic, but I guess that would be a fairly light day for two or three people. The reason I would like to see that done mid week is that it will make the air awfully dusty, and anyone in the house should be wearing respirators. It would be best if only a few folks were present. Please let me know if you're interested!
This Saturday, we will continue with insulation and drywall, and wrap up the electrical work. We hope to have a couple of folks take siding off around windows and doors so we can install windows in a couple weeks or so. (Remember to let me know if you're interested in being there for the window effort!) So this weekend looks like this: install drywall, install insulation, finish wiring and electrical work (yahoo!), continue touch-up carpentry (doors, mostly), and other good stuff.
Thanks again to everyone for your help! You are all miracle workers! If you would like to help with this important work, please call or e-mail Neal or Linda Harold at 206-714-3755 or nlharold@hotmail.com. Please indicate if you need a ride or would like to carpool. We continue to go to Lewis County every Saturday – please join us!

The next meeting of the Book Group is on Monday, May 19. Anyone who enjoys reading and discussing what they have read is welcome. See you there. The book for May is Water for Elephants, by
Sara Gruen.
Rummage Sale Update: By the time you read this, the Rummage Sale will be nearing completion. But you will have one last opportunity to shop. We will be open between services today for those that did not have the chance to come Friday and Saturday. Although the sale is over, the work of cleaning up and distributing the leftovers is yet to be accomplished. This afternoon we will be packing up the unsold items so we can return Benson Hall and Fellowship Hall back to normal – finally. We need someone to take the remaining books to Half-Price Books for cash. We need someone to bag the clothing to be distributed to Church of Mary Magdalene, Bread of Life Mission and the Cancer Society Thrift Shop. Hope Link will take household, linens and furniture. The remaining items need to be boxed up for pick-up Monday afternoon by the Community Services for the Blind. The cardboard boxes need to be broken down and taken to recycling. Please choose one of these tasks to help with. Volunteers can contact Lael O'Neal, Shirley Hirsch or Gary O'Neal.
Thanks to everyone for their generous donations and work in setting up this past week.
